At the Ventura County Resource Center, our mission has always been to strengthen and uplift the community we serve. This month, Director Donnie Aiken is excited to introduce Helping Hands, a new program designed to bring extra care and support to senior citizens aged 55+ and disabled individuals throughout Ventura County.
Helping Hands is built on a simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors. Through this initiative, community volunteers will be paired with individuals who could use a little extra support—whether that’s picking up important medications, lending a hand with day-to-day tasks, or simply providing friendly conversation and companionship.
This program is more than just services—it’s about creating meaningful human connections. Many seniors and disabled individuals face challenges of isolation or limited mobility. By bringing volunteers into their lives, Helping Hands fosters a sense of belonging, kindness, and dignity for those who need it most.
But to make Helping Hands successful, we rely on the generosity of our community.
There are two important ways to get involved:
Volunteer your time to directly assist those in need. A few hours of your week can have a lasting impact.
Donate resources to help fund transportation, supplies, and the ongoing efforts that make this program possible.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Together, we can expand this program and ensure that more seniors and disabled residents receive the support they deserve.
Director Aiken and the entire Ventura County Resource Center team thank you for your continued support and encourage you to join us in making Helping Hands a true force for good in our community.
